TRILJ VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT OPENS ITS DOORS FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE FAMILY EXPERIENCE

On Sunday, 21 June, starting at 10:00 a.m., the Trilj Volunteer Fire Department (DVD Trilj) invites visitors of all ages to its annual Open Day.

This is much more than a community gathering. It is an opportunity for children to step into the world of the men and women who dedicate themselves to protecting their community every single day.

Throughout a fun and educational programme, young visitors will have the chance to take part in firefighter challenges, enjoy interactive games, explore fire engines and specialised equipment, and experience first-hand what it takes to perform a profession built on knowledge, discipline, teamwork and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

Visitors can look forward to:

  • extinguishing a controlled fire,
  • exploring a fire engine and firefighting equipment,
  • firefighter games and practical challenges for children,
  • meeting local firefighters and learning about their everyday work.

Behind every siren and every uniform are people who often put their free time, family life and even their own safety aside to protect the lives and property of others. That is why this event carries an important message: to inspire respect for firefighters and to highlight the vital role that community support and investment in firefighting play in keeping us all safe.

"Most people only see firefighters when a red truck rushes by with its sirens on or when they hear about an emergency. What often goes unnoticed are the countless hours of training, dedication, on-call duty and constant readiness to help others. We want people to understand that firefighting is about much more than putting out fires – it is a calling built on responsibility, compassion and teamwork. If, after this Open Day, even one child dreams of becoming a firefighter, or one visitor leaves with a greater appreciation for the people who work around the clock to keep our community safe, we will consider our mission accomplished," said Mladen Klarić, Commander of the Trilj Volunteer Fire Department.

The members of DVD Trilj emphasise that everyone is welcome – children, parents, grandparents and visitors alike – because firefighting is not just a service; it is an essential part of the identity and strength of every local community.

Come and meet the people who help protect our town. Ask questions, try the firefighter challenges and discover why true heroes are defined not only by the uniforms they wear, but by their willingness to be there whenever they are needed most.

The DVD Trilj Open Day will take place on Sunday, 21 June, starting at 10:00 a.m. And perhaps that morning, one child will put on a firefighter's helmet for the very first time - and discover a lifelong calling.
